Seldovia is located southwest of Homer, and it's a quick boat or plane trip across the bay to reach it.
Fishing is an important part of the tight-knit community here, and every May, residents hold a special ceremony where they bless the fishermen and fleet.
The boat harbor is a fun place to explore, even if you’re not currently headed out on a tour or the passenger ferry.
Take a stroll around town to soak in the scenery and breathe the fresh air.
When it's time for lunch or a snack, pop into the Seldovia Hotel, Pub & Grill.
Enjoy your view while you enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants right along the water. They are all pretty good, and it’s fun to try each one during your stay. I loved the Boardwalk Pub & Grill!
Everything on the menu here is delicious, but you'll definitely need a cup of their legendary seafood chowder. The hotel also offers 12 private rooms.
You won't want to miss the Craft Invitational Chainsaw Carving Competition held here every year over Labor Day weekend. The intricate sculptures that these artists create using chainsaws are simply amazing.
