1. Bayou La Batre
Bayou La Batre, the "Seafood Capital of Alabama," is a charming fishing village on this Alabama road trip, and it features numerous shrimp boats. This town also offers lots of picturesque scenery.
2. Dauphin Island
Dauphin Island, which is known as the "Sunset Capital of Alabama," is a great place to visit if you're looking for sand and sun. In addition to being home to beautiful, white-sand beaches, Dauphin Island is also home to the award-winning Audubon Bird Sanctuary.
3. Gulf Shores & Orange Beach
Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are Alabama's top vacation destinations. Like Dauphin Island, both of these towns are well known for their beautiful, white-sand beaches. Each of them also offer a variety of things to do for the entire family.
4. Foley
Foley is a historic town that offers lots of fun things to do, including antiquing and exploring its beautiful outdoors. A great place to check out while in Foley is Graham Creek Nature Preserve (pictured). This scenic preserve offers a variety of recreational activities for all ages.
5. Magnolia Springs
Magnolia Springs is one of Alabama's most charming small towns. It's also one of the most unique because it's one of the nation's only towns that still receives mail by boat. While driving through Magnolia Springs, you'll also love passing under their beautiful tree-lined streets.
6. Fairhope
Fairhope is another charming small town on Alabama's Gulf Coast. Taking a stroll down the Fairhope Municipal Pier (pictured) to enjoy the surrounding scenery is a popular activity to do while here.
7. Daphne
While in Daphne, you'll want to visit May Day Park (pictured) for a fantastic view of Mobile Bay. This is one of the town's most scenic parks and it's great for spending an afternoon. Daphne, like Foley, is also home to several antique shops for those who enjoy antiquing.
8. Spanish Fort
Spanish Fort is home to several places that offer lots of history and beautiful scenery, including Historic Blakeley State Park. This park, which covers more than 2,000 acres, is the site of Alabama’s largest Civil War battle. It also offers several trails for anyone who enjoys hiking, biking, or horseback riding.
