When it comes to celebrating Christmas, Alabama doesn't disappoint! There are several towns located throughout the state that offer a variety of festive activities for all ages, including Andalusia. For information about Andalusia, including why you should visit this holiday season, read on.
Andalusia is the county seat of Covington County, Alabama. It's a wonderful place to visit year-round, especially during the holidays.
This small town is such a popular destination this time of year mainly because of its "Christmas in Candyland" event, which is held every year. Interestingly, Southern Living has distinguished this Christmas event as one of the best in the South.
"Christmas in Candyland" will take place December 4-27, 2020. Admission is free.
"Christmas in Candyland" offers a variety of activities. Unfortunately, a few of them are closed this year due to Covid-19. Don't fret because there are several that are still open, including the Candyland Cottages. These custom play cottages are sponsored by local businesses, and children thoroughly enjoy them.
"Horse Drawn Carriage Rides" will also be offered. These will take place on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The carriage will pick you up at Milky Moo's on the Square, and the cost is $5 per person. Note: Only one family is allowed on the carriage at a time.
Performances will also take place on the Springdale Stage, including "Concerts and Carols," which is scheduled for Fridays, December 4th, 11th, and 18th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
One of the highlights of "Christmas in Candyland" is its "Snow Show," which uses machines that blast out authentic looking snowflakes. Each show lasts about 30 minutes, and both children and adults love it.
