With dozens of locations in seven states (several of which are here in Texas), 85C Bakery Cafe has garnered a cult following ever since it opened its first U.S. location in Irving, California in 2008.
The Taiwan-based chain is named after the ideal brewing temperature for espresso coffee: 85 degrees Celsius.
Despite its name, the bakery is far from just a coffee shop. Upon stepping inside any of the sleek, modern storefronts, you'll be instantly overwhelmed (in the best possible way) by all of the delicious-looking options behind the display cases.
Virtually every type of sweet treat your mind could possibly conceive of can be found here. There are over 60 types of cakes alone, ranging from mousse cakes to cheesecakes to tiramisu.
While you'll see plenty of "standard" bakery items such as blueberry muffins, berry tarts, and chocolate chip cookies, many of the offerings are unique and hard to find anywhere else.
When's the last time you had a chiffon cake?
Many of the baked goods have a Japanese flair, such as the matcha red bean roll cake and several varieties of milk toast (if you've never tried milk toast before, it's the softest, most fluffy bread you'll ever taste).
Dozens of types of sweet buns are sure to leave your head spinning in a decision dilemma of epic proportions. Will you opt for a milk tea bun, a red bean bun, a mango custard bun, an espresso bun, or something else entirely?
The Pork Sung Half Moon Cake is a crowd favorite. Although pork and baked goods aren't an obvious pairing, the saltiness of the meat compliments the sweet, cream-filled vanilla sponge cake just perfectly.
Other options include egg tarts, Danishes, strudel, croissants, and savory items like potato croquettes.
You also simply must order one of their famous sea salt lattes. Americano coffee is topped with an addicting sea salt whipped cream that's so good, you could eat it with a spoon.
85C also offers seasonal treats for nearly every holiday.
How cute are these chocolate-covered strawberry "carrots" for Easter?
