Growing up in a small town might seem boring at times, but when you compare it to being raised in a large city, there's really no contest. Small towns make up most of Texas, after all, and many who moved to a big city later on have their roots in a tiny town somewhere. If you grew up in small town Texas, you will definitely remember the reasons why there's no better place to spend your childhood.
1) There's never a shortage of wide open spaces to play in and fields to aimlessly wander through.
2) You get to wake up to peaceful scenery like this everyday.
3) You don't have to deal with this every single day on your way to work...or anywhere, for that matter.
4) You won't find many corporate giants in these towns...it's all about small, local businesses.
5) The only lights you see at night are the ones from the brilliant stars shining brightly above.
6) Nothing obstructs your view of a beautiful Texas sunset...you get to see it in all its glory.
7) People in small towns know the value of hard work, and have been raised to give 100% in everything they do.
8) Neighbors are actually neighborly, and will sit down and have a conversation with you no matter how busy life gets.
9) Porch sittin' is a perfectly acceptable activity, because there's no better place to relax and take in the beauty of life than from your own front porch.
10) If you need a little excitement, you can just go root for your favorite high school football team on Friday nights!
11) When you have to go into the city for something, it seems like a ridiculously exciting, fun adventure.
12) It might seem a little boring, bland, and too quiet sometimes, but it's home, and there's no place you'd rather have childhood memories than here.
