One of the most celebrated restaurants in the Texas Hill Country, Blue Bonnet Cafe is nestled in the quaint Austin suburb of Marble Falls.
Named after our state flower, the iconic eatery first opened in 1929 and has been a local institution ever since.
Upon stepping inside, the retro atmosphere will instantly take you back to simpler days.
The décor is minimal, but flashiness becomes unnecessary when the food does all the talking.
No matter what time of day you stop by, the extensive menu poses a delicious dilemma for your taste buds.
Breakfast is served all day, with options ranging from fluffy scrambled eggs to pancakes so big, they fall off the plate.
Lunch and dinner entrees include Southern comforts like chicken-fried steak, liver and onions, and homemade meatloaf.
A different blue plate special is offered every day, served with your choice of three scrumptious sides.
While the food is delicious, it's dessert - more specifically, pie - that Blue Bonnet is world-famous for.
The cafe even has a pie Happy Hour from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays! No other restaurant in Texas offers such a thing, and we can't imagine a more deserving place for the concept to originate.
There are over a dozen flavors to choose from, all baked fresh every morning.
From classics like apple and pecan to more unique options such as peanut butter cream, rest assured you'll find something to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Just look at that mile-high meringue!
It's love at first bite.
