Are you looking to relocate in the near future? If so, I highly suggest taking a look at Plano. As per Money, Inc., the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb is one of the most peaceful cities in Texas (and the entire nation!). With beautiful parks, community events, and lots of family-friendly activities, there is so much to adore about Plano, and I know you'll love it here.
Despite having a population of nearly 300,000, Plano doesn't feel like a steadily-growing suburb of the hectic Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Here, neighbors still know each other by name, and the pace of life is just a bit slower.
With a historic downtown district, two upscale shopping malls, and a thriving entertainment district, Plano provides an unparalleled quality of life and is a great place for families.
The community is very close knit, coming together for celebrations such as the city's annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
What truly makes Plano such a peaceful city to call home is how much open, green space it offers. The city's parks and recreation department manages nearly 4,000 acres of land, and there are trees everywhere you look.
Plano is home to not just one, but two nature preserves. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve is a 200-acre park boasting nearly nine miles of paved and unpaved hiking and biking trails.
Divided into three separate regions, the park also has an observation tower that provides sweeping views of the lush greenery that surrounds it.
There is a pristine pond within the park, as well as plenty of opportunities to view wildlife such as birds, deer, turtles, fish, and rabbits.
Even larger than Arbor Hills is Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, which is located near Rowlett Creek and features a small lake and nearly 13 miles of trails.
In addition to hiking, park visitors can kayak, canoe, and stand-up paddleboard on the pond from dawn until dusk.
Oak Point is also where you'll find Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park. This family-friendly treetop adventure offers ziplining and other activities that allow for communion with nature in a seriously fun way.
