Kites aren't just for kids, y'all! If you've never had the opportunity to witness a sky full of vibrant colors and unique designs, you're truly missing out. Luckily, Texas City is hosting its third-annual kite festival in just a few short weeks, so you can have the experience of a lifetime.
This summer, kites of all shapes, sizes, and colors will take to the skies in Texas City for the third year in a row.
Children and adults can partake in the event, competing for awards in several categories including most unique, highest flown, largest, and more.
There will even be hydrofoil racing in the bay, which is essentially surfing while flying a kite. How neat is that?
Professional fliers will be at the event, some flying kites measuring over 50 feet wide. The kids (and adults!) will love watching the monstrosities soar overhead.
Drones are welcome and encouraged, so if you'd like to capture the kites at eye level or get a top-down view of the entire festival, you certainly can.
Oh, and did I mention there's an after party? Head on down to Texas City Ice House on 6th street after the festival to relax with a cold drink after a full day of fun in the sun.
The festival will take place on June 10 from 10am-7pm at the Texas City dike/levee. Be there or be square!
