The area known as the Metroplex boasts a low cost of living, four professional sports teams, a warm climate and, of course, great food. Do you know what we don't have? A state income tax. 1. Job Growth

July's grand opening of Toyota's North American headquarters in Plano, which is expected to add about 4,000 jobs in North Texas in 2017 alone, is just one of numerous companies calling the Dallas - Fort Worth area home. A key reason Dallas - Fort Worth appeals to companies is its proximity to a large international airport conveniently located between the two cities, plenty of open land, and a willing workforce.

2. Affordable Housing and Low Cost of Living

Whether you seek a Texas-typical one story ranch house, prefer a more traditional home in a neighborhood filled with amenities, or like livin' urban n an upscale condominium in Dallas or Fort Worth, there is a home for everyone. While the area's popularity means home prices are on the rise, the Metroplex still boasts one of the most affordable urban housing markets, remaining lower than the national average at about $210,000. It also costs less to fill your gas tank and buy food in Texas than in most states!

3. Professional Sports Teams

The Dallas Cowboys. Need we say more? They still command the title of "America's Team," and home games nearly always sell out in this land of football obsession. While the namesake says Dallas, did you know the stadium is actually in Arlington and the team's brand new practice facility, aptly named "The Star," is in Frisco? Talk about spreading the love throughout the area.

And then there's the Texas Rangers. The glorious Globe Life Park opened in 1994, ushering in a new era of Texas Rangers baseball. Can't beat summertime and baseball here... that is until the newly-approved $1 billion stadium, complete with a retractable roof and air conditioning, opens for the 2021 season.

And let's not forget the Mavericks and the Stars. Not to be outdone by the Arlington stadiums to the west, the Dallas Mavericks basketball and Dallas Stars hockey teams play at the stunning American Airlines Center located in downtown Dallas. Hotels, restaurants, and clubs surround the facility, making it easy to enjoy a memorable evening out.

4. Warm Climate

Most Texans don't own a snow shovel, and many don't even need a heavy coat. Sound appealing? With average temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to the upper-70s (although we can certainly see triple digits in the dreaded heat of summer), the area is a haven for those who hate the cold. Our warm climate and sunny skies mean we have outdoor festivals year-round, and we definitely love our backyard pools, area lakes, and big ol' shade trees.

5. Wide Open Spaces

The Metroplex is booming for sure, but that doesn't mean there isn't still land to be had. Many neighborhoods are still built with acreage minimums, and locals love their greenbelt areas and personal space. Growth continues in every direction around Dallas - Fort Worth, but that just means you have to meander a tad further out to find the open plains and pastures.

6. Outstanding Healthcare

Whether it's routine care or a breakthrough lifesaving procedures, Dallas - Fort Worth has renowned hospitals. Children's Medical Center, Texas Health Resources, Baylor, Parkland, the Dallas Veteran's Hospital and others, in combination with a seemingly unlimited number of specialty clinics, is why this area is considered a major medical hub of the nation.

7. Transportation

It is true that the best way to get around in Dallas - Fort Worth is with a car, but that's not the only way to get around. Public transportation continues to improve with the Texas Railway Express and Dallas Area Rapid Transit system, as well as the network of Greyhound bus and Amtrak stations. We also have not just one, but two, public airports (DFW International and Love Field). Neverending highway construction and constant road improvements are the only true complaints, but the results are certainly improving commute times.

8. Education

Whether it's the esteemed Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, or the number of other state universities and two-year colleges throughout the area, higher education is just a short commute away. Parents have an array of choices with public and private schools for K-12, with some districts even offering open transfers for residents living outside of attendance zones.

9. Entertainment

From the annual Fort Worth Rodeo and Stock Show, to national-ranked entertainment at multiple arenas and concert venues, Dallas - Fort Worth offers entertainment for everyone. Both cities have gorgeous convention centers for business conferences and special events, and there are too many renowned museums to mention.

10. Shopping

Whether it's at large high-end malls like the Galleria in Dallas or quaint outdoor areas like Sundance Square in Fort Worth, the area is a true shopping paradise. And it's not just for clothes or knick-knacks; The Colony (a suburb of Dallas) is home to Nebraska Furniture Mart, the largest home furnishing store in North America, with 560,000 square feet of retail space- the size of nine football fields.
