You'll be hard-pressed to find a small town in Texas without at least one restaurant that doubles as the local hangout spot, and Marble Falls is no exception. More than just a place to grab some down-home cooking, Blue Bonnet Cafe is about camaraderie and togetherness - okay, and the food is pretty incredible, too. According to Cheapism, this unassuming eatery is the best hole-in-the-wall diner in the Lone Star State. Here's what sets it apart:
Nestled in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Blue Bonnet Cafe has been serving up hearty, home-cooked meals since 1929.
In a recent listicle by Cheapism, the restaurant was named the best hole-in-the-wall diner in the Lone Star State—and we can't say we disagree!
Inside, the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a neighborhood eatery.
When the food is this good, fancy decor becomes unnecessary.
The menu is several pages long, which means it'll probably take you a while to decide.
For breakfast, you'll see classics like omelets, pancakes, and biscuits with gravy, as well as combination platters for those with the biggest appetites.
The diner also serves lunch, and the grub is just like mom used to make.
Southern staples like chicken-fried steak and liver with onions will whisk your taste buds back to simpler times, and daily specials printed on an old-fashioned chalkboard tell stories of a bygone era.
One simply doesn't visit Blue Bonnet Cafe without trying a slice (or two) of their famous pie.
More than a dozen flavors are baked fresh daily, ranging from apple to coconut cream and everything in between.
Whole pies are also available, so take a few to go!
That way, you can enjoy the world-famous dessert in the comfort of your own home.
Visit the diner's website or Facebook page to learn more.
