Raccoon Mountain Caverns is located in the southern part of Tennessee, in the Chattanooga area. With over five miles of underground pathways and a myriad of tour opportunities, it's one of the incredible experiences in the state.
The formations in the caverns are 100% natural, and it's known as being one of the most geologically active caverns in the American south. It's not just a place you can study, of course. It's an incredible underground network you can explore for yourself.
The cave is open daily, no matter the weather, as long as it's not Thanksgiving or Christmas. The tour guides may be incredible, but they like a solid family day, too!
Come tour the massive cave system or take in the views from the campground on-site. Pan for gemstones, fall in love with the scenic vistas that stretch from the peaks of Lookout Mountain and Raccoon Mountain.
You can either choose a 45-minute walking tour that's run on the daily, or you can indulge in the Crystal Palace Tour. It comes highly recommended! Keep in mind, reservations are required for all wild cave expeditions.
