My name is Chris Dodge and I live right here in the great state of Tennessee. My family and I are full adventurers filled with passion to see the amazing things our state has to offer. We are avid hikers and have explored many different places in Tennessee and beyond but we are always thankful to be living in such a glorious state.
If you were to tell me there was a brightly colored building near the Smokies where I could listen to the flow of a river and eat Mexican food, I would have thought I died and went to heaven. Well, trade the harps for a mariachi band because at No Way Jose’s Cantina in TN, this very specific dream becomes a reality! Prepare to take your taste buds on a culinary journey across the Equator all while having your feet firmly planted in the familiar comfort of the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.
If you are familiar with the Smoky Mountains then you know how wonderful it is to hear the mountain streams gushing through the lush overgrowth. Places like the Chimneys Picnic Area offer a great spot to picnic after a hike, but with just a short drive back in town you can have that same experience. Instead of soggy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, you can have heaping plates of Mexican food.
The brightly colored building has become an iconic beacon for some of the best Mexican food in the area. Located right on the Little Pigeon River you can dine on the open-air patio listening to the tranquil trickle. Even when it’s cold they will cover the opening with a clear shield but you will still hear and see the flow of the river.
I love everything about Mexican culture from sugar skulls to the glorious heat found in almost every dish. The brightly colored decor sets the atmosphere for the fiesta your taste buds are about to have.
Loaded burritos, sizzling hot fajitas, crunchy tacos, and so much more can be found on the menu. You can be assured that what you are ordering is authentic Mexican cuisine. There are plenty of options to choose from -- so much so that my mouth is watering just writing about the menu!
The fun setting, delicious food, and amazing chips bring me back to so many wonderful experiences over the years of gathering together for a good Mexican meal. Mexican Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, Fiesta Fridays -- you name it and we’ve created an alliteration for every day of the week. The more Mexican food the better, I say.
If you could possibly have room left over, the desserts are also a fantastic way to end the night. But let's be real, after the first bite of an authentic Mexican dish then it's already been a good night!
Wow after such a great dining experience you might need to lay down and let your foot settle just a little bit. Make sure you plan ahead and secure a room at the Margaritaville Resort. Sleep well on a full tummy my friend. If you would like to peruse the succulent goods on the menu at this TN gem, make sure you head on over to No Way Jose’s Cantina website.
Maybe you are more of a walk-off-your-meal kind of person. Head down the road and into the Smokies for a pleasant stroll on the Gatlinburg Trail.
