Autumn is a magical time for children and adults alike. Fall foliage explodes in all shades of red, orange and gold, stippling the mountaintops with streaks of brown and the fading green of summertime. If you live in Nashville, though, we're sorely lacking in mountaintops, which means a trip to the local farm is perfect to fulfill any intense autumnal needs. This year? We're headed to Walden Farm!
Walden Farm is a locally owned Tennessee farm in Smyrna that sits just 30 minutes from the heart of Nashville.
The farm seems to come alive come autumn! It's free for you and your loved ones to enter the farm, although specialty goods and separate activities will cost extra.
You'll have the chance to visit the Ole Country Store, where you can find all your locally sourced fall decor in one place. Plus, Walden Farm t-shirts are for sale so you can rep your fun afternoon out and about all year long.
Most children enjoy the Pumpkin Train and Pick Your Own Pumpkin experience, and who can blame them?! Alongside the Activity Area that boasts everything from a corn maze and hay mountain to a seesaw, this darling farm is what childhood memories are made of.
The animal barn is also a must-see. It's magical for kids to see farm animals up close and personal, and Walden Farm makes it easy and safe to give your little ones a fun farm-centric experience.
Indulge in afternoon sand art and face painting, or simply just wander the land with your jaw dropped in awe. This beautiful place is a must-visit every year, as the event gives you and your family the best experience in the south.
This year, you can visit Walden Farm from September 22nd to October 31st, which means we're well into their six week season.
You can visit for yourself at 8653 Rocky Fork Road in Smyrna, Tennessee, or you can check their official website for updated dates and special events. Keep in mind that bad weather may affect opening hours, so you'll want to double check the day of your visit. Have fun!
You can continue your autumnal adventures with this gorgeous fall hike - it's not too far away, and it's a fabulous way to spend the afternoon!
