If you live or have lived in Nashville, then you know there's a certain way of living here in the heart of Middle Tennessee. Every city has their own quirky aspects and thoughtful cultural undercurrents, and Nashville is no different. We scoured the city and found a few vocabulary words that just might help you fit in a bit better to Music City, so you don't have to spend ages gauging the feel of our hometown. How many have you heard, how many have you used?
10. Meat-N-Three
Aw, this is a simple one - the traditional southern meal that boasts a meat and three decadent sides.
9. NashVegas
Well, you won't find locals calling our pretty city "NashVegas", but if you hear it from a tourist on the street they're referring to our raging bachelor/bachelorette party culture and honkytonk strip on Broadway.
8. You do music?
That can mean anything from playing to writing to producing. Music is "the business" here and it's a main part of the local economy.
7. Batman Building
That would be the AT&T building, located in downtown Nashville. Notice those bat-like points?
6. LOTG
Live on the Green is Nashville's free late summer concert series in downtown. Be there or be square!
5. Bushwacker
This boozy milkshake-esque drink is perfect for hot summer days and lazy evenings with friends.
4. Supper
Also known as, "dinner", to you non-southern folks.
3. SATCO
That would be the college student favorite, San Antonio Taco Company. You don't come for quality, you come for quantity.
2. I Believe in Nashville
The mantra came straight from the aftermath of the 2010 flood that devastated the city. It's not just a mural, guys - there's solid meaning behind this notable Nashville saying.
1. The Mother Church
That's the Ryman Auditorium, the original home of the Grand Ole Opry located in downtown Nashville.
