There’s something fascinating about abandoned places in Nashville. Homes and schoolhouses, hospitals and restaurants that once meant the world, suddenly left to the ravages of time. If you find yourself a bit uncomfortable flitting from lonely place to place, this incredible explorer has done the hard work for you. Known as, "Jeremy Xplores," he publishes personal photographs and videos of abandoned places in Nashville on social media. Sure, he doesn't list locations - the burden of legalities, of course - but that just adds to the mystery. See what you think of these abandoned Tennessee destinations.
Jeremy Abbott is a wildly talented photographer in the Middle Tennessee area. He makes his way to abandoned places around the city and state, snapping eerie photos of life once it's lost.
Every photo is lonely and lovely and strange in its own way, a beautiful depiction of what happens to the places we simply leave.
With over 160,000 followers on his Instagram page, he regales his followers on a monthly basis with ghostly, unnamed, and completely abandoned locations.
The locations remain unnamed, but if you're a local you may figure out how to divine an answer from contextual clues.
This documentation of Nashville's crumbling history is breathtaking.
Albeit a bit ghostly, of course. If you're easily creeped out or prone to nightmares, you may want to venture through his canon of photographs slowly. Doesn't this look like a perfectly scary movie set...?
What we really appreciate about his tireless work is the attention to detail given to every photo, and in turn, to Nashville's history.
We'd also like to go on the record and say thank goodness for fearless folks like Abbott. We're not brave enough, or artistic enough, to venture into the great unknown.
