If anyone asks "Do you want to chase some waterfalls?" our answer is always a resounding "Yes!" We have some of the best waterfalls in Tennessee and we never pass up the opportunity for a bit of waterfall chasing. If you are like us, then there is one waterfall hike you'll want to put on your bucket list because you can see more waterfalls than there are miles on this trail! Lace up those hiking boots and get ready to head to Burgess State Park and take the Ridgetop Trail.
The Ridgetop Trail offers a few different routes, ranging from 0.75 to 1.5 miles in length.
Either way, you will start at the trailhead where you'll be immediately welcomed by the first of many waterfalls!
Not too far down the trail, you will be able to feast your eyes upon Little Falls. This waterfall, as the name suggests, is quite small, but still has an ample flow that is simply stunning.
Along the way, if it had rained recently you can see a bonus waterfall. The rocks on the side of the trail will have trickles of water cascading and falling down. It might not seem like much, but we tend to appreciate all of the beauty along the way.
Soon you will pass Middle Falls, and you might be tempted to say this is the best waterfall yet. No doubt, this waterfall is amazing -- but once you arrive at Burgess Falls you will understand why it's imperative you continue along the trail!
You will have the opportunity to view Burgess Falls from an overlook or hike down to the top of the falls. We suggest you take the overlook first and take in the stunning views before heading to the top of the falls.
When you get to the top of the falls you can get right up along the edge and witness Burgess Falls as it pours 130 feet down to the pool below. The sheer power of this waterfall is akin to Niagara Falls and is an incredible sight to see.
Along the Ridgetop Trail in Burgess Falls State Park will be at most less than 1.5 miles, but the journey will showcase up to 5 waterfalls. With a little effort, you can see more waterfalls than miles on this hiking trail. When you want to chase waterfalls this is a tough trail to beat. For more information on the park please make sure you visit the Burgess Falls State Park website.
Less than an hour away you can hike to the bottom of Tennessee’s biggest waterfall, Fall Creek Falls make sure you don’t miss this one.
