Hike to Laurel Falls in Hampton, Tennessee, for a scenic hike through the forest alongside a babbling brook. This trail is a fantastic way to get outside and see a gorgeous waterfall. It might seem odd that there are several waterfalls in the state with the same exact name, the most notable being Laurel Falls in The Great Smoky Mountains. This Laurel Falls however is located in the North-Eastern part of the state near Watauga Lake. So follow along and we will show you one of the most incredible places you can hike in East Tennessee.
Just take a look at this stunning waterfall, and soak in the view because it will be the reward at the end of an amazing hike. Laurel Falls is 40 feet tall and 50 feet wide and will always have a nice flow making it a must-see waterfall.
As beautiful as the end of the trail will be, it is not to be outdone by the trip along the way. The Laurel Fork is a stream that you will follow for most of the hike. The trickling water will be a pleasant backdrop as you marvel at the pretty forest.
You will even cross the water on well-built bridges that add fun checkpoints along the way. Take a quick break to marvel at the current and the glistening rocks dancing in the sunlight peaking through the dense canopy above.
There is a section of the trail that will appear to end with a large boulder sitting beside the stream. You will need to work your way around the massive rock and climb your way by holding on to the stone. It is not dangerous by any means but adds a little adventure to your hike.
The trail meets up with several other trails so the trip getting to Laurel Falls can be a little tricky. We suggest you bring along a map with you and soon enough you will be gazing at one of the prettiest waterfalls in Tennessee.
As fun as the trail is, the real reward awaits you at the end. You will round the corner and come face to face with this stunning waterfall.
It might be hard to take your eyes off it because it is so mesmerizing. Put down your hiking backpack and rest on the smooth stones, string up a hammock, or take a dip in the cool mountain water, either way, this is a premiere spot for relaxation. Rest a while because you earned it.
