Finding a natural swimming hole in Tennessee is a true summer treat, but finding the perfect natural swimming hole? That's a different story. We've covered a handful of them right here, but Cane Creek Cascades has really stolen our hearts. This beautiful, naturally stunning waterfall is located in Fall Creek Falls State Park, and it's truly one of the best hidden natural spaces in the state. It's a must-visit during the warmer months!
Fall Creek Falls State Park is located roughly two hours from Nashville and the popular east Tennessee city of Knoxville, making it one of the most highly trafficked natural areas in the state.
Fall Creek Falls State Park boasts the iconic 256-foot waterfall that the park is named after. Of course, there are multiple waterfalls within the park, including Piney Creek Falls, Cane Creek Falls, and the beautiful Cane Creek Cascades.
Cane Creek Cascades is a gushing waterfall that falls 45 feet just above Cane Creek Falls. It's a popular spot for hikers and swimmers, mainly due to its ease of access and the pool beneath it that's perfect for swimming.
Whereas the rivers and streams of Tennessee can be pretty hit or miss depending on the time of year, Cane Creek Cascades is the perfect addition all throughout the summertime. Fed by Cane Creek, Cane Creek Cascades is much easier to visit than its sister waterfall, Cane Creek Falls.
It's a glorious experience, to wash the heat of the summer away in the gushing chill of an East Tennessee waterfall. It's one of the most popular waterfalls for swimming in the park, and can be found behind the Fall Creek Falls State Park Nature Center.
Be careful, of course! There are no lifeguards on duty, so it's everyone for themselves. You'll want to make sure that all members of your party, especially children and young adults, are acting safely and responsibly.
