It's no secret the Mountain State is an ideal place for a quiet little stay-cation. From B&Bs to campgrounds, cabins, and even haunted old hotels, whatever you're seeking in the way of a hidden place to relax, you'll easily find it right here in your own back yard in West Virginia.
One such getaway is a can't miss for a weekend adventure. Graceland is a restored Victorian mansion perched high atop a hill in Elkins. It was built in 1893 as a private home for Henry Gassaway Davis, a U.S. Senator.
Davis built the mansion as a summer vacation home for his family and settled on the name "Graceland" in honor of his daughter, Grace.
Aside from the incredible interior at Graceland, you'll also be enchanted by the long-range mountain views afforded from the hilltop mansion. It's said you can see at least 20 miles of mountaintops.
Additionally, Graceland has many elaborately decorated rooms. With lush, rich fabrics and period decor, the inn may make you feel a little like royalty while staying here.
And the many porches and verandas will spoil you with hours upon hours of complete relaxation.
Graceland also operates as a conference center and has a separate building with additional rooms. It's a wonderful place to host a family reunion, a business conference, or just for a romantic couple's getaway. At the foot of the hill in downtown Elkins, you'll find restaurants and shops to satisfy any shopping and dining needs.
It's not often you get an opportunity to spend the night in such a beautifully restored Victorian mansion. Did you know about this wonderful retreat? We'd love to know!
Graceland is located on the campus of Davis & Elkins at 100 Campus Dr., Elkins, WV 26241. Learn more on the official website and on their Facebook page.
