Located just nine miles from Spokane, Riverside State Park in Nine Mile Falls is a true hidden gem. The park provides recreational opportunities for almost every type of visitor, and you can even camp surrounded by nature. While this place tends to be overlooked due to its remote location, it's truly an amazing place to spend a weekend.
Riverside State Park is actually Washington's second largest state park.
It spans about 11,162 acres along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers.
The park is primarily used by hikers, bikers, and horseback riders.
The 55 miles of trails make it easy to get a great workout here.
The views from the suspension bridge are gorgeous.
It's easy to see why this is one of the most popular views in the park.
Riverside State Park has several different campgrounds, including one with 10 equestrian campsites with corrals.
There are also plenty of tent sites, sites with full hookups, and a few primitive campsites as well. Camping season is May 15 - September 15.
The Bowl and Pitcher is one of the park's most famous areas, which can easily be viewed by the suspension bridge.
The campgrounds are located at the Bowl and Pitcher, Nine Mile Recreation Area, and Lake Spokane.
You may only be able to camp here until September, but you can use the park anytime.
In fact, Riverside offers some of the best snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling east of the Cascades.
Riverside State Park also has local historical significance.
It was once used as a gathering place for Native American tribes, and it was once known as quite a fur trade hub. These days, it's the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.
