Calling all anglers! Are you looking for a secluded fishing spot in Virginia? We've got just the place -- and it just so happens to be absolutely beautiful, too. Braley Pond is about thirty minutes from Staunton, Virginia in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. If you've never been before, you'll surely feel like a local outdoorsman as this little-known pond is the very definition of a hidden gem.
Welcome to the lovely Braley Pond. This 4.5-acre impoundment was created in 1965 by the U.S. Forest Service strictly as a recreation pond.
To get to the pond, you'll want to take Route 250 west of Staunton to Route 715. After a right, you'll see signs pointing to Braley Pond on the left.
You'll likely spot some fellow anglers, if anyone, once you arrive. The pond is stocked with keeper-sized rainbow trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, and channel catfish.
Learn more about the fishing regulations on the Virginia DWR website.
And while the fishing is great here, the scenery is second to none.
After you've spent some time casting a line, you might consider setting up a campsite for the night.
And, for those with an interest in the paranormal, Braley Pond also happens to be one of the most haunted places in Virginia.
You can read all about it in our previous article outlining the spooky campsites nearby.
