Located at 717 Maple Street in Stowe, The Brass Lantern Inn is not new to this northern Vermont community. This bed and breakfast first opened its doors in 1988, but the building goes back much further in time. This inn is located inside a circa-1810 brick farmhouse that is charming in every single way.
Donald Jones is one of the current owners of The Brass Lantern Inn and is fourth in the line of innkeepers.
He and his partner Andrew took over operations in 2022, creating a place where it is easy to relax, unwind, and be yourself. They were inspired to take over the inn by a mid-life career shift and with the desire to move to a more progressive state with their family.
Jones works hard to ensure everyone who visits The Brass Lantern Inn has a space where they can truly get away. “Success means that our guests are happy, comfortable, and feel well served in balance with their own need for privacy,” he says.
“We provide a personal touch along with modern amenities, in a great location, and with stunning mountain views.”
And as you walk inside, you'll notice those small details do indeed make a difference.
This Vermont inn features nine guest rooms that are beautifully decorated with many modern touches, yet still offer a glimpse into the building’s past.
While each room is different, you can rest assured that you will have a space that is private and comfortable.
Most of the rooms feature Roku TVs, whirlpool bathtubs, gas-fired fireplaces, and plush beds.
Many rooms throughout the property also offer remarkable, wide-open views of the gorgeous Green Mountains.
Don’t be surprised if you want to sit and stare out the window all day – it’s quite stunning.
While the accommodations are certainly going to leave a lasting impression, “Why not experience the first meal of the day with a fresh and locally sourced Vermont breakfast?" as stated on The Brass Lantern Inn website.
In B&B tradition, every stay at The Brass Lantern Inn includes a two-course plated breakfast served at your own private table each morning.
Breakfast begins with a course of fresh fruit, a parfait, or baked item, along with a selection of teas, coffee, and juices. The main entrée is prepared to order and made using local ingredients. The menu rotates on a daily basis and dietary preferences can be accommodated. "To-go" breakfast is also available if you wish to get an early start to your day and access to coffee, tea, and cocoa is available all day.
Not only does The Brass Lantern Inn provide a beautiful place to stay for travelers, but Donald and Andrew are working hard to make it a space where the community can gather. The inn hosts monthly jazz events for everyone to enjoy. Donald and Andrew also regularly contribute rooms to local charities.
The Brass Lantern Inn in Stowe, Vermont, is more than just a place where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, beautiful views, and the coziest night's sleep. It is a place where you can unwind, be yourself, and find happiness, kindness, and hospitality.
