Goblin Valley State Park is one of the most fascinating state parks in the Beehive State. This area is filled with unique sandstone formations and during a visit, you’ll feel like you’ve taken a step onto a different planet. Goblin Valley State Park is located near Canyonlands National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, and the town of Green River. It has become a popular destination for hiking, photography, and even wildlife viewing.
With so much to do, you’ll want to stay for several days to enjoy it all and luckily, Goblin Valley Campground is one of the best state park campgrounds in Utah.
This year-round campground offers 24 campsites with restroom and shower facilities. There are 12 standard campsites, 11 tent-only campsites, and one large group site that you can reserve during your getaway.
While there are no trees in this campground, you will sleep next to unique sandstone formations, offering you a little protection from Mother Nature’s harsh outdoor elements.
All campsites also feature a covered picnic table for even more protection during the day.
If you are interested in a truly unique adventure, reserve a yurt at Goblin Valley Campground. There are two yurts available and each one takes your camping experience to a whole new level.
The yurts can sleep up to five individuals and two pets are allowed. They are furnished and feature electricity, heating, and air conditioning.

However, regardless of where you stay, you’ll want to stay up late, step outside, and enjoy the night sky. Goblin Valley is an International Dark Sky Park and is where you will find some of the darkest night skies in Utah – perfect for star gazing.
With incredible landscapes, picturesque campsites, and dark night skies, there’s no doubt why Goblin Valley State Park is one of the best state park campgrounds in Utah.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Why I Love It: Fact: Airplanes are notoriously dry, dry, dry. No matter how much water I drink both before and during the flight, I always find myself in a hydration deficit for days. When I need to disconnect and enjoy some nature therapy, I hate to be surrounded by crowds. I want to be someplace quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. One place that offers all of this and much more is Swaseys Beach Campground near Green River. This campground isn’t large and it sits right along the Green River. It’s perfect for some time in Utah’s desert and you may even consider it one of the best campgrounds in Utah.

Located along Hastings Road, approximately eight miles north of Green River, is Swaseys Beach Campground. This may not be the largest or the fanciest campground in Utah but it’s perfect for some outdoors.
Here, you will find both a campground and a day-use area. The day-use area features picnic tables, metal fire rings, and a beach area where you can happily play in the water and put your toes in the sand.
I recommend you stay for a while but make sure you come early in the day. This campground only features 12 campsites. The majority of these sites are quite large and can easily accommodate large groups or families.
Keep in mind that all campsites are based on a first-come, first-serve basis and the campground can fill up on the weekends. There are no water services and cell phone reception is poor.
The campsites feature picnic tables and fire rings. Several of these campsites are also shaded with cottonwood trees.
And, of course, the proximity to the water is just one more thing to enjoy about this campground. Swim or play on the beach — it’s the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day.
Approximately eight miles north of Swaseys Beach is the Nefertiti Boat Ramp, which is a popular place to put in the water for a lazy-day float trip along the Green River.

I love the scenery of the area. The tall canyon walls, river, and desert views are simply majestic.
