It doesn’t matter the time of the year, sometimes, you just need to get away and go camping. However, when fall and winter arrive, a majority of the campgrounds around the Beehive State close down, making a camping excursion seem almost impossible. Fortunately, there are still a handful of state parks in Utah where you can camp all year long. Here are five year-round campgrounds in Utah that you’ll definitely want to add to your bucket list no matter the season.
Located near Ivins, Utah, Snow Canyon State Park features beautiful red sandstone and incredible hiking opportunities. This campground is particularly lovely during the fall and spring months when the weather is just right. This year-round campground in Southern Utah features 32 campsites, one group day-use site, and two group campsites.
Tucked away near Green River, Goblin Valley State Park is one of the most underrated state parks in Utah. This bucket-list-worthy state park is where you can experience unique views, fascinating rock formations, and memorable hiking trails. It is also home to a year-round campground that sits next to the unique sandstone formations. There are 26 campsites here, including 11 tent-only sites and two yurts.
Dead Horse Point State Park is one of the most picturesque and beautiful state parks in Utah. It definitely belongs on any bucket list and it is the perfect place to camp all year long. In fact, this Utah state park is home to two campgrounds with more than 60 campsites in total and nine yurts. Plus, it is an International Dark Sky Park so be prepared to see incredible night skies!
Goosenecks State Park is quite small — only 10 acres in size — but the views here are absolutely magnificent. In fact, this state park is home to one of the most popular overlooks in the entire state. If you want to enjoy the views no matter the time of day, set up camp here. But, this campground is a bit different than the others on our list. The campsites are located right along the rim, providing extraordinary views. However, there are no services, except for vault toilets. There are only eight campsites and they are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Sand Hollow State Park is one of the most popular state parks in Southern Utah. Boat, fish, and swim at Sand Hollow Reservoir or play on the sand dunes during the day. Then, enjoy a good night’s sleep at one of the large campsites around the park: Sand Pit Campground or Westside Campground. There are nearly 100 campsites between both campgrounds and you’ll also find primitive camping opportunities along the reservoir if that’s more your style.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. When I need to disconnect and enjoy some nature therapy, I hate to be surrounded by crowds. I want to be someplace quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. One place that offers all of this and much more is Swaseys Beach Campground near Green River. This campground isn’t large and it sits right along the Green River. It’s perfect for some time in Utah’s desert and you may even consider it one of the best campgrounds in Utah.

Located along Hastings Road, approximately eight miles north of Green River, is Swaseys Beach Campground. This may not be the largest or the fanciest campground in Utah but it’s perfect for some outdoors.
Here, you will find both a campground and a day-use area. The day-use area features picnic tables, metal fire rings, and a beach area where you can happily play in the water and put your toes in the sand.
I recommend you stay for a while but make sure you come early in the day. This campground only features 12 campsites. The majority of these sites are quite large and can easily accommodate large groups or families.
Keep in mind that all campsites are based on a first-come, first-serve basis and the campground can fill up on the weekends. There are no water services and cell phone reception is poor.
The campsites feature picnic tables and fire rings. Several of these campsites are also shaded with cottonwood trees.
And, of course, the proximity to the water is just one more thing to enjoy about this campground. Swim or play on the beach — it’s the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day.
Approximately eight miles north of Swaseys Beach is the Nefertiti Boat Ramp, which is a popular place to put in the water for a lazy-day float trip along the Green River.

I love the scenery of the area. The tall canyon walls, river, and desert views are simply majestic.
