When you want to truly immerse yourself in Utah's natural beauty, camping overnight is the way to go. Utah has thousands of campsites to choose from, and most are surrounded by gorgeous scenery. Here's one little campground that's so pretty we think it deserves a closer look.
The Fruita Campground is nestled in a little valley next to the Fremont River.
Compared to the surrounding red rock and desert, this lush, green spot is like a little oasis for visitors.
The campground offers 71 sites - 64 for RV/Tent and 7 for tents only.
Campsites are shady and cool. Each site has a firepit and picnic table. Restrooms offer running water and flush toilets.
There's plenty of grass and green space here.
Local mule deer love the grass, too!
The Gifford Homestead is on the National Register of Historic Places, and lends a rural atmosphere to the campground.
Stop by the Gifford House Museum and Store. It's open every day from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
The shop sells homemade cinnamon rolls and pies. Sit at one of the picnic tables and enjoy a delicious snack.
The orchards contain over 3,000 fruit trees bearing plums, peaches, apples, pears, apricots and cherries. When the fruit is ready to harvest (from June through October), you can walk through and eat as much as you'd like! For a small fee, you can take fruit home with you.
These campsites are first come, first served, and they fill up fast. Get there early for the best spot - check out time for the previous night's campers is 11:00 am. Campsites are just $20 per night ($10 for seniors).
