Sometimes, escaping into nature is all your soul needs to feel alive again. Hiking and camping are great, but if you’re in the mood for something a bit more luxurious, why not book an Airbnb surrounded by gorgeous natural scenery? These three Airbnbs for nature lovers in Texas offer the best of both worlds, allowing you to immerse yourself in the great outdoors without sacrificing creature comforts like a warm bed, running water, and coffee (the most important thing for me!).
1. Naturalist Boudoir (Lumberton)
I've featured this Airbnb several times, but I can't help but include it in this list because it's just so incredible. It's hard to believe such a magical getaway is hiding in the woods of Southeast Texas, but it's true!
There's a reason the Naturalist Boudoir has a nearly 5-star rating from over 600 reviews. Nestled in the heart of the Big Thicket, it's extremely secluded and provides the perfect opportunity for guests to reconnect with nature. Amenities include a hot tub, hammock, outdoor shower, and firepits - everything you need to soak up the sights, sounds, and solitude of the great outdoors and infuse your spirit with a dose of calm.
The cabin sleeps two guests, so it's perfect for a romantic mini vacation. You'll have access to a coffeepot, mini fridge, and microwave during your stay. It even has decks for grilling, fishing, dancing, and plain ol' relaxing!
2. Hill Country Hammock House
The Hill Country Hammock House is basically an outdoor playground. It's only an hour outside of Austin, but you'll feel like you're worlds away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. Surrounded by lakes and towering trees, this two-person cabin is the ultimate escape for nature lovers.
The bedroom and sitting area are located upstairs. Sliding glass doors open onto the balcony, which features a deck with a two-person hammock that's suspended off the balcony to maximize viewing potential (see previous photo). The hammock is ideal for diving into a good book, taking a nap, or simply enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
After a full day of exploring or relaxing (either is great!), sink into the king-size canopy bed for a good night's sleep. Cabin amenities include wifi, a combo mini fridge and freezer, microwave, convection stove top (no oven), coffee brewer, cookware, dishes, spices, toiletries, and more. The bathroom is located downstairs, and guests also have access to a warm-weather outdoor tub, a BBQ grill, and a firepit.
3. Butterfly Cottage
Set on 67 private acres, Butterfly Cottage is a simply sublime retreat from daily life. The biophilic cottage is located in the heart of Ardor Woods Farm, surrounded by wildlife and native flora.
The interior is incredibly unique and rustic, accommodating two guests with one bed and one bath. Nothing compares to the feeling of waking up to birds chirping as the sun rises over a bright green field brimming with colorful flowers, and that's exactly what you'll get to experience here.
During your stay, you can explore the grounds freely, walking nature trails, marveling at a frog-filled pond, navigating a Medieval-style labyrinth, and even feeding farm animals (visits must be pre-arranged with the owners). It's the definition of paradise!
