El Cosmico in Texas lies in the desert town of Marfa, and it's that kind of place that once you visit, you never forget about it. Although we Texans are pretty good at roughing it, sometimes it's nice to experience something in between a five-star hotel and a measly little tent with a compost toilet and no running water - something that allows us to fully enjoy our surroundings without having to think as much about basic survival needs. With several lodging options to suit your individual needs, you'll feel completely at home despite being in the middle of nowhere at 4800 ft. elevation beneath the Milky Way band.
El Cosmico is an 18-acre Bohemian campground where you can lounge in style underneath the spectacular West Texas night sky.
We can't think of a whole lot of things more amazing than the Texas night sky! El Cosmico treats its guests to some of the best views of it you can find.
Some of your lodging options include tepees, which are furnished with a queen bed, love seat and daybed.
For extra-coziness, tepees also come with a heated mattress pad. They're roomy, too - they span 22 feet in diameter, and they are, of course, outfitted with electricity.
Or, you can take your pick of any number of vintage trailers on the grounds for an unexpectedly groovy night in.
These aren't your average trailers! Each one has its own special amenities and unique perks, so you definitely want to make sure you choose the perfect one for your needs. Looking for unique? Three words (or maybe four): El Cosmico in Texas.
You've got some small trailers, which are probably the most simplistically perfect ones on-site for the minimalist-at-heart.
They're 11 to 13 feet long, and have a kitchenette and full bed inside. All guests have access to things like communal spaces and hammocks for lounging, but we'll list them as perks anyway because how cool is that?
Your medium trailers are a bit larger and have more to offer.
They come with a full (or queen, in some cases) bed, an indoor bathroom (the small trailers share a community restroom, so you get your own thing here!), and all the good stuff offered by the small trailers, of course. El Cosmico prides themselves in being a Bohemian community, so make sure to get out there and make some new friends.
...and who could pass up the luxurious large and extra-large trailers?
Some of these babies are ADA-accessible, and they're all a lot roomier than other spots you could have chosen. These trailers come with a queen bed (the large) and both a twin and king-sized bed (the extra large). These places are the perfect mix of roughing it and luxury.
Also available are some awesome, unique other stays like yurts, a bunkhouse, and possibly most splendid of all, the Kosmic Kasita.
What are all of these things, you ask? Well, if we gave it all away in this article, you'd never feel the need to explore their website before booking your space, and we highly encourage that!
El Cosmico is open year-round, so it's very important to plan for the weather. In the colder months, the pipes tend to freeze, so make sure to plan for anything. Good dogs (aren't they all?) are welcome for a minute fee, and if you'd like to see more pictures, read in detail about the property and the amazingly creative culture it harbors, as well as book your time here, please visit their website to do so.
