When was the last time you truly unplugged and took some time for yourself? If you're anything like me and often find yourself staring down a never-ending to-do list, it's probably been a while. One of my favorite things to do when I need a break from the world is take a digital detox. Between work and other commitments, technology rules my life more than I care to admit. Such is the case for most of us these days, and I've found that getting away and immersing myself in nature for a few days works wonders for my mental health and well-being. The Hygge House in Tyler is a secluded Airbnb in Texas that's perfect for a digital detox. It's nestled on two private acres and is surrounded by tall trees that promise to envelop you in their rejuvenating embrace.
The word "Hygge" is Danish and describes a general feeling of well-being, which is exactly what guests of The Hygge House experience. While just minutes from downtown Tyler, this cozy cabin feels like its own little world, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind. Laid out like a studio apartment, the one-room space features a queen-size bed, a loveseat, a dining area, and a small kitchen with a stovetop, a fridge/freezer, and a countertop oven. Several large windows look out on the peaceful surroundings, and a sliding door opens directly to a spacious wraparound porch.
There's a two-person hammock suspended off the deck, and it's the perfect little hideaway for diving into your latest read or just taking a healing nap. While the cabin does have neighbors, their homes are far enough away to be completely out of sight, so all you'll hear are the delightful sounds of nature as you lounge in paradise. The outdoor area also offers two wooden Adirondack chairs that were made for sipping your morning coffee as the sun rises between the trees.
The Hygge House sleeps two guests. Visit its Airbnb listing for more information, such as the current nightly rate, or to book your stay.
