These places are fabulous for camping, and with a bit of research you can even bring those outdoorsy kiddos of yours - what an adventure, what sweet memories. Each are just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Nashville, and we've included driving time to better help you plan your visit. Enjoy your late 2016 camping, friends!
1. Cedars of Lebanon State Park
There are 117 campsites with picnic tables and grills, PLUS electric and water hookups. There are thirty extra tent sites as well, so you can camp however you wish.
2. Long Hunter State Park
The park was official in 1974 and boasts 2,600 acres of wilderness that's positively perfect if you're looking to get out of the city in real solid time. The 20 miles of hiking trails aren't too rough, either.
3. Edgar Evins State Park
Edgar Evins campground has 60 campsites for those of you that bring along a tent or a trailer, and every site has electrical and water hookups. Plus, that view up there? Yeah, you get that too. Maybe not at your exact campsite, but it's only a hike away.
4. Montgomery Bell State Park
Montgomery Bell was once one of the largest iron industries in the state, and the land left behind is some of the most beautiful. With rates from $11 to $25, this is a cheap and easy way to get out in the great outdoors.
5. Tims Ford State Park
Tims Ford Lake is considered to be one of the most beautiful spots in Tennessee, and it provides a solid little crown to the stunning expanse of the park. Golfing is also an option, and there are 20 cabins outfitted with electricity available to rent.
6. Bledsoe Creek State Park
There are 57 sites that are completely level and long if you're looking to bring your RV! Plus, all sites are compliant with the American Disabilities Act. Here in Tennessee we like to make sure our stunning natural beauty is easily available to all.
