Whether you're looking for a river walk, a trek through the forest or hike to a waterfall there's something for everyone in the Volunteer State. To us, the Old Stone Fort Archaeological Park stood out — it's one of the prettiest places in the world, bar none, and loves to play host to visitors.
You can find the Old Stone Fort State Archaeological Park at 63 miles, or roughly an hour from the heart of Nashville. That's not too far if you're planning a weekend getaway without breaking the bank.
The park is known for its rock structures found throughout the park, mysterious stone formations that date back between 1,500 and 2,000 years old. Most folks believe it was once a ceremonial gathering spot for the early Native Americans.
Nowadays you can visit the once-sacred space or you can take one of the many hiking trails that criss-cross the park.
For campers, there are lovely spaces available with water and electrical hookups, grills, paved pads and picnic tables. Each campsite is tucked back in the woods, making for a private and gorgeous natural experience.
The park itself is truly beautiful any time of the year, boasting natural waterworks and community activities such as the highly popular National Trails Day. It will be held on June 8th, 2018 this year so make sure to mark your calendars!
Swimming and canoeing the Duck River makes for a beautiful summertime day trip, too!
And those fall colors? Downright dreamy.
Safe outdoor experiences are the name of the game at Old Stone Fort, so rest easy knowing that you'll feel safe throughout your time in the park.
Old Stone Fort really has a draw for everyone, making it one of the most unique spaces in Tennessee with its historical edge and stunning natural beauty. This is the kind of place that runs the natural gamut! You can visit for yourself at 732 Stone Fort Dr., Manchester, Tennessee.
