Nashville is home to many a boutique hotel and Airbnb space, but when it comes to a luxury hotel there's really no place that holds a candle to the Hermitage Hotel. This incredible and historic space is located right in the heart of Music City, and it's known as one of the premier Grand Dame hotels in Middle Tennessee.
The Hermitage Hotel has quite the reputation not only in Nashville, but across the globe. The historic downtown hotel was originally built in 1908, and opened to the public in 1910. The inspiration for its title, The Hermitage Hotel, hails from President Andrew Jackson's nearby estate.
The hotel is located just a scant two blocks from the state capitol building, in an area that was once a luxurious residential neighborhood. Nowadays it's located right in the heart of Nashville's bustling downtown business district.
The gorgeous rooms and luxury amenities send you back in time, both with the staff's attention to fine detail and the elegant design that's found throughout the space.
The Hermitage holds the title as Nashville's third skyscraper on record, and opened its doors with all the modern amenities of 1910. If you booked a room, you'd be able to indulge in not only a telephone on-site but circulating ice water. It's the future, folks!
Still, it's the lobby of the hotel that will truly catch your eye. You'll find yourself enamored with the Beaux-Arts design, the painted glass ceiling and the incredible grand staircase that leads from the street to the lobby. It was constructed out of Sienna Marble, and the walnut walls throughout the hotel scream luxury.
There's a historical element to the Hermitage, as well. It served as a national platform for the suffrage movement in the early 20th century, and it served as the home base for WSM which eventually morphed into the Grand Ole Opry radio show.
If you haven't been, this is the place to go either for a simply beautiful meal or an indulgent stay out on the town. Visit for yourself at 231 6th Avenue N in Nashville, Tennessee, and you can make reservations online or over the phone.
The Hermitage Hotel may be one of the best hotels in the city, but it won't make you laugh like this list of local quirks might...
