Camping is a staple of a southern summer, a cheap and easy getaway when the craziness of day-to-day schedule and extracurriculars get to be a little too much. Still, not every campsite is like the other. Here in Tennessee, one of our favorites is the exclusive and panoramic views of Cades Cove Campground. There's nothing more beautiful than the expanse of Tennessee, and we find ourselves falling in love with this gorgeous place over and over again. Would you go camping here?
Cades Cove is located in the renowned Great Smoky Mountains National Park in eastern Tennessee and is the most visited area in the park.
More than 2 million visitors make their way to Cades Cove every year, whether they're looking to go camping on the expansive and stunning grounds or want to experience a bit of the area's history.
The eleven mile Cades Cove loop road is great if you're looking to observe wildlife in their natural eastern Tennessee habitat, or you can take part in hiking, biking, or horseback riding throughout the park.
In Cades Cove, you'll have the chance to experience a slightly modified form of primitive camping — the kind that comes with fresh drinking water and flushing toilets! You can also visit the camp store if you need a few basic necessities or are looking for bike rentals.
The park also has one of the largest and best-preserved collections of log buildings in the United States. You can make your way to almost 100 historic structures, from churches to grist mills to barns.
Wildflowers explode during the springtime and early summer, making for a magical experience before the weather gets a bit too hot.
Cades Cove Campground is not only the most popular campsite in the area, but it offers 159 spaces for potential campers with electrical hook-ups upon request. Close to Abram Falls and the nearby town of Townsend, this is truly one of the most convenient spots to camp in the state. You can bring an RV, too, just make sure they're 35 feet or under!
Sounds magical, doesn't it?
You can visit for yourself at 10042 Campground Dr. in Townsend, Tennessee. Make sure you make reservations ahead of time!
If you're looking for more fun things to do in the south this summer, this secluded Tennessee lake is absolutely beautiful. You'll fall in love!
