The thump of the house pads, the hum of electric guitars, and the energetic feel of an ecstatic crowd. Stepping onto the stage, it’s time to put on a show; the butterflies lift and the pure raw energy of the stage takes over. If you have ever put on a rock show, you know this feeling all too well. There is nothing quite like living this dream out, but then again, there are some people who would see that as more of a nightmare! The good news is, we found a vacation condo rental in Downtown Memphis, TN, where you can live out the rock-n-roll lifestyle without even stepping foot on stage. Take a historical music adventure in the city where bigger-than-life names made some of the most influential music of all times. When you are done with your time in this famous river city, you can visit other great Tennessee cities like a real road warrior on a massive sold-out tour! Rock on, y'all.
Memphis has seen its fair share of musicians and is home to a couple of “kings” in their field of music. So it should come as no surprise that a lot of music icons have been an inspiration to many within the city.
If you want to take a tour of Memphis and dig into the musical history, then this Rock-N-Roll pad is the perfect place to start. Show up by parking in the private garage out back and then head on into your rental space. Think of this as your sound check before you finally crash for the night. Check out the vintage records on the wall and enjoy the opulent colors and stylings reminiscent of Elvis himself. Speaking of which, it would be a great place to start any musical tour of Memphis by taking a little trip to Graceland.
No trip to musical Memphis is complete without visiting The King’s house!
Marvel at the eccentric designs and interesting rooms to get a glimpse into what life was like for Elvis. From the green jungle room to the splashes of color found in the billiards room, you will certainly find that this is one interesting tour. Elvis was never one to be content to do anything without a little “pizzazz” so you can expect the same thing from his home in Memphis, Tennessee.
Sun Studio can be your next stop because this historic studio has cranked out some iconic tunes.
Sun Studio was the first place where Elvis recorded his music and that alone will solidify it as a memorable place. Add to that Johnny Cash and B.B. King and what you have in this music studio is sacred ground for music fans. You can see old photos from when these classic artists busted out their top hits and even see the instruments that were used as well as the actual microphones and equipment used to record these iconic voices.
Recorded music certainly captures a moment, but anyone who really appreciates the musical arts knows that there is nothing quite like a live show.
That's why you should make your way to the loud, energetic, and exciting Beale Street. Shining neon lights stand as beacons to the good times happening inside. Without even stepping into a club or honky tonk you can feel the kick drum and the electricity in the air. Wander the streets and listen or pick a show to see; either way, you can’t leave this historic street without hearing a great live show.
There's another "king" that calls this street home.
B.B. King’s Blues Club is located in the heart of the action and you know you've arrived when you see the giant electric blue Lucille (the name of B.B. King’s guitar) lit up. Inside you will find some of the best music in the city from the brilliant house band to many acts that make their way to the stage throughout the week.
Late into the night, you will need to make your way back to your rock-n-roll pad for the night.
This place can sleep up to seven people so feel free to bring along your family, friends, or fellow bandmates. In the city where two prominent "kings" made a home base, it’s only appropriate to sleep soundly in a king-sized bed to end the day. And like any rocker, you won’t find them out much before 11 a.m. so it’s fitting that check out is at that time, too!
What do you think of this musical tour of Memphis? There is so much more to see and do in the city especially if you want to live vicariously through historical rockers. This should just give you a taste of what to expect. With a great place to stay, this vacation condo rental in Downtown Memphis, TN, will be a perfect fit for you. And when you are ready to take this show on the road, make sure you check out these other great places to stay in Tennessee.
