Winter can drag on and on, or at least feel like it, causing most of us to suffer from cabin fever every now and then. While we might not be able to board a plane for an exotic destination, we can get away from it all in one of the many quaint towns in Western PA. Cure your cabin fever, for example, with an overnight at this historic B&B near Pittsburgh that's also home to a fine dining restaurant.
History whispers throughout Century Inn in Scenery Hill, less than an hour from downtown Pittsburgh, that's been a favorite stop of travelers since 1794.
Sat along historic National Road, the enchanting B&B has earned distinction as the "oldest continuously operating inn" on the road. The Century Inn, in fact, has seen some pretty famous visitors during its history - from Andrew Jackson to Henry Clay.
Join a long list of travelers over time who have fallen asleep in one of the nine guestrooms in the stone inn. All guestrooms offer an assortment of amenities, including private bathrooms and gas fireplaces.
Each room is named after a historical figure - Albert Gallatin, Chief Blackhawk, and Marquis De LaFayette, for example.
Whether you're staying for a night or just passing through the area, sit by the fireplace for a delicious meal. (Reservations are required.) The Century Inn offers fine dining and a seasonal menu.
Please note, the restaurant at the inn will be closed through January 14, 2020.
Warm up with a piping hot bowl of soup before digging into a scrumptious entree. Lunch dishes may range from baked crab cake and burgers to a hearty Reuben sandwich.
If you're visiting for dinner, order the smoked duck breast, the charbroiled salmon, or the seared Angus ribeye.
