Not too many years ago, my travel plans usually revolved around exploring big cities, but as I've gotten older, I want to spend more time in the quiet of nature, whether on a hike or a getaway. That's what makes these charming rentals in Pennsylvania so appealing. Each offers the chance to reconnect with nature while still being within a reasonable distance of a variety of attractions. The hard part is deciding which to book first.
1. Pocono Mountains Cabin – Cresco
Nestled on six acres, this enchanting Poconos Mountain Cabin is sure to put you immediately at ease. The lush surroundings give off an otherworldly vibe, and that feeling doesn't stop when you stroll through the front door of this one-bedroom, one-bathroom home that sleeps two guests. If you want to connect with nature, you've come to the right place. The cabin doesn't have wifi or a landline, and cell service is spotty, if not non-existent, making this spot perfect for a romantic getaway or a solo stay. Plants decorate the cabin that features a full menu of amenities, including a full kitchen and A/C. If the weather cooperates, you'll likely want to spend as much time as you can outdoors. Relax by the fire pit; explore the forested acreage, or sit by the natural pool where you can listen to the birds, the crickets, and the sweet sounds of nature. This Airbnb is adults-only and does not allow pets.
2. Panoramic Paradise Cabin – Brookville
Wait until you see the sprawling views from this cozy cabin in Brookville, a three-bedroom, one-bathroom home that accommodates up to six guests. Perched atop Heartwood Mountain, the cabin boasts more than four dozen amenities, including a washer and dryer, heat and A/C, wifi, and a full kitchen. But if you really want to reconnect with nature, you'll spend most of your time outdoors, drinking in the fresh air and catching a glorious sunrise or sunset from the mountaintop - maybe in the hot tub. The cabin's outdoor space has a fire pit, BBQ grill, and seating.
3. Sweet Solitude Cabin - Meadville
Embrace the quiet of nature at Sweet Solitude, an adorable log cabin in Meadville. Tucked in the woods, the one-bedroom, one-bathroom home sleeps two guests. Ladder stairs will take you to the bedroom, so keep that in mind before booking a stay. Enjoy a full list of amenities, including a kitchen and A/C, but there are a few things you won't have - a TV and wifi. (Don't worry, though, the owners say there is cell service.) The wooded outdoor area promises plenty to do, whether you're stargazing as you soak in the hot tub, relaxing around the fire ring, or sitting on the porch and listening to the sounds of nature.
