Getting out and enjoying Oregon's natural beauty can be a wonderful experience, but sometimes it can be ruined by modern life. Noisy outboard motors on the lake, generators on huge motorhomes making noise all night, and people walking around chatting on cell phones can all ruin the trip that was supposed to help you get away from it all!

There's a resort in Oregon where you can go right back to the 1930s. It doesn't have a bunch of fancy amenities. What it does have is plenty of peace and quiet, and a beautiful setting.

Olallie Lake Resort was built in 1932, and it still has the same rustic charm that it did back then. The resort has a general store, cabins, a dock, and wooden row boats.

The resort is located in the Mt. Hood National Forest.

The resort has ten cabins and two yurts for rent. They're very rustic with no electricity or running water inside. There are small, medium, and large cabins that sleep from three to six people.

Cabins have beds, a dining table with chairs, wood stove, counter area, dish pan, tea kettle, water bucket, and broom. There are pit toilets near the cabins. Bring your own bedding, dishes, cookware, camp stove, and any other items you'd normally bring for a camping trip.

Olallie Lake Resort also manages all the campgrounds in the Olallie Lake Scenic Area. There are 97 camp sites within four miles of the resort. These pretty sites offer picnic tables and fire rings, and are first-come, first-served.

The resort's store offers groceries, fishing supplies, cold drinks, beer, and wine. You can also get drinking water and ice here, but they're offered in limited quantities, so you might want to bring your own.

The store accepts cash only - no debit or credit cards, and there isn't an ATM for miles around, so make sure to bring some cash with you and pay the old-fashioned way!

If paddling around a lake and fishing sounds like your idea of a great day in the wilderness, you've come to the right place. There are no outboard motors allowed on Olallie Lake, but the resort rents wooden row boats and paddle boats.

There's no swimming allowed in Olallie Lake, but there are many other lakes in the immediate vicinity where you can swim and splash.

Enjoy a day on the lake, fishing and relaxing. This is the perfect place to recharge and reconnect with nature.

You can also fish right off the dock at the resort. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife stocks the lake annually with rainbow trout, so drop your line in and catch dinner!

There are plenty of hiking trails around the resort so you can explore this incredible, wild place. Take the three-mile hike around the lake, or get the map at the general store for more trails. The Pacific Crest Trail also winds right through here.

You pups are welcome to join you here! According to U.S. Forest Service rules, they must be kept on leash, and the resort requires that you don't leave them alone in the cabins. Plan to clean up after them, but bring them along - they'll love this place too.

Olallie Lake Resort is located in a remote place in the Mt.Hood National Forest. There is no Internet or cell service here, so come prepared to enjoy a truly relaxing stay.
