McMinnville, Oregon, is about an hour southwest of Portland in Oregon wine country. It's a great little city that's the perfect place for a weekend getaway. It's always been that way, but since the Atticus Hotel opened in 2018, it's become an even better destination to visit than ever before. This unique boutique hotel is stylish, popular, and highly rated, and some people even consider it to be one of the best hotels in Oregon - as well as one of the best in the world.
Even though it hasn't been open that long yet, The Atticus Hotel has made a big impression on all who have visited it over the past few years. Read on to learn more about what the Atticus Hotel is all about.
The Atticus Hotel is a beautiful property right in the heart of McMinnville.
This 36-room property was created by partners Erin Stephenson and Brian Shea. The pair started their brand in 2010 with 3rd Street Flats - smaller accommodations properties with two locations in town - and followed them up with this much larger project in 2018. The Atticus Hotel is a huge hit.
This boutique hotel is a bit unique and different in special and memorable ways that you'll notice right away upon arrival. First, the hotel doesn't have a front desk. Instead, it has a Welcome Bar. Guests check in at the bar. Wine and espresso is complimentary all day.
The main lobby is a beautiful and comfortable place to relax with a good book. Much of the art, furniture, and other features in the lobby and all around the hotel were created by local artists.
Guests can dine in the private Drawing Room at the Atticus Hotel during their stay.
They can also eat at Red Hills Kitchen on site. This fine restaurant is highly rated also, and features local, fresh, and seasonal cuisine that artfully captures the beauty of Oregon.
There's a 16-seat Board Room at the Atticus Hotel also, if you're visiting the area on a work trip.
The rooms at the Atticus Hotel are impressive. Every room is different, but each room has a fireplace, a private bathroom, a wine fridge, a personal bar, live plants, and comfortable beds with locally-made mattresses.
Much of the furniture in the rooms is made locally as well. You'll sleep well thanks to the blackout curtains, too.
Many Oregon brands are spotlighted at the Atticus Hotel. Every room also comes with Pendleton bath robes, Maak Labs soaps and toiletries, and decor by Juju Papers, Cedar & Moss, Schoolhouse Electric, Ann Sacks, and Rejuvenation.
There are regular rooms, suites, and a penthouse suite to consider, but perhaps the most interesting room is the Luxury Bunkhouse. It's 600 square feet in size and it sleeps up to six guests.
Also, many guests are happy to learn that the Atticus Hotel is also dog friendly. The hotel's pet friendly suites come with dog beds, treats, and dog food bowls.
There are also free bikes that you can borrow and use to ride around town.
If you're looking for activities to enjoy in the area, the concierge will be happy to advise you about local wineries, culinary tours, and other things to do in McMinnville and beyond.
This hotel is really special. It's sure to be one of the nicest stays you've ever experienced - in Oregon, or anywhere.
