While we adore the Oregon Coast and consider ourselves so lucky to have the Pacific Ocean right in our backyard, there's something wholly comforting and wonderful about a day at a lake. Inherently cozier and just as beguiling as their salt-water brethren, lakes offer a different kind of experience worth seeking out. Oregon is home to some truly dazzling lakes, of course, from the world-famous Crater Lake to the aptly named Clear Lake, there are beautiful bodies of water to enjoy in Oregon. For those looking to take #lakelife to the next level, we suggest checking out the houseboats on Lake Billy Chinook -- and then get ready to set sail for an unforgettable adventure in Oregon!
There's nothing like a day at the lake, an aquatic playground in a nice, neat little fresh-water package.
Located in sunny Central Oregon, Lake Billy Chinook is a total gem of a lake (okay, it's technically a reservoir, but we love it all the same) boasting cerulean blue waters and stunning mountain vistas.
Lake Billy Chinook has long beckoned water lovers, and Cove Palisades Resort and Marina offers guests the world in terms of recreation: stand-up paddle boards, wave runners, kayaks, and more...
...including the most charming houseboats in all of Oregon.
In fact, this full-service resort specializes in the rental of luxury houseboats, plus ski boats, fishing boats, pontoon boats, and even party barges. They also offer daily and seasonal morrage and gasoline.
The houseboats are our favorite vessels, however. These floating abodes can accommodate up to 14, and offer a spacious layout with both outdoor and indoor spaces, as well as extras like slides and rooftop decks. There are restrooms and kitchenettes onboard, too.
On thing to be aware of: while many of the boats offer air conditioning, some, like the 6 Sleeper, do not. You can view boat layouts and amenities on the Lake Billy Chinook Houseboats website.
Pack light -- you can stock up on supplies for your houseboat at the main store, which sells beer, soda, ice, candy, camping supplies, grocery items, sunglasses, tackle, hats, and sunscreen. You'll definitely need hats and sunscreen for this getaway!
While you can most certainly take advantage of the on-board appliances (boats boast everything from stoves and microwaves to toasters and coffee makers), we recommend dining on land at the Cafe on the Bluff, a restaurant located inside the main store that has Three Sisters Coffee, hot pizza, homemade sandwiches, hot dogs, and salads. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily -- and there's free WiFi here, too.
There are lots of amazing waterfront accommodations in Oregon, from lakeside camping to cabins boasting resplendent river views. But when you're looking for a lovely lake retreat in Oregon that's truly *on* the water, Lake Billy Chinook Houseboats are the way to go!
Are you ready to set sail for an amazing adventure in Oregon? Us too! Visit the Lake Billy Chinook Houseboats website to learn more and reserve your houseboat.
