Crater Lake is one of Oregon's most treasured gems. It's the deepest lake in the country, and certainly the most beautiful. A visit to Crater Lake National Park is a magical experience, and you can make it even better by staying overnight at the historic lodge that's among the top national park hotels in the US.
Without a doubt, Crater Lake is the most stunning lake in the world. Its azure waters draw three quarters of a million guests every year, but most just make it a day trip.
To truly experience this magical place, stay overnight at its historic lodge. Crater Lake Lodge opened in 1915, and it's full of historic charm. You'll find it on the southwest rim, 1,000 feet above the lake.
Address: 565 Rim Drive, Klamath Falls, OR, 97604
The original lodge was pretty simple, with a tar paper exterior and minimal electricity. Throughout the years, the lodge was updated a bit, but it underwent a major renovation in 1991. Some of the original features remain; others are new, but styled to match the early 20th century lodge.
While most of the lodge was completely rebuilt, the Great Hall was carefully dismantled and restored, so visitors today experience it just as they would have decades ago.
The huge hall has many seating areas, which are welcoming and comfortable for playing games and chatting with friends.
The 71 guest rooms are small, but cozy and quaint, and have excellent views.
The claw foot tubs and subway tile in the bathroom aren't original, but are reminiscent of the 1920s.
The lodge's dining room provides the most unique dining experience you'll ever have. It overlooks the lake and features delicious meals made with locally-sourced ingredients. The dining room is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
In the evening, sit on the deck and enjoy the sunset. You won't find a view like this anywhere else in the world!
Crater Lake Lodge is closed during winter months, but opens every May for the summer season. Make your reservations now - rooms often book up!
