The Norblad Hotel is special. It's located right in the middle of downtown Astoria, Oregon. It was built in 1923 and is the longest running hotel in town.
You might also be aware that Astoria is the oldest city in Oregon. It was founded in 1811.
Everything is within easy walking distance of the Norblad. When you stay at this spot, you're only one block away from several breweries, a couple of coffee shops, a distillery, several restaurants, and the historic Liberty Theater.
Upon entering, you'll go upstairs immediately. The lobby of the Norblad and all 17 of its rooms are on the second floor. The first floor of this property is commercial space.
The current owners bought the hotel in 2007. At that time, they did a complete restoration and remodel. This picture shows the lobby; as you can see, it's super stylish and is a great place to hang out.
The owners kept many of the hotel's original features including doorknobs, apron sinks, and the original check-in desk, shown here.
You may have noticed that the lobby is decorated with record albums. You'll likely be excited to know that you can check out a record player from the front desk to take to your room during your stay so you can listen to some of the records!
The Norblad has several regular rooms that they call Cabins. These rooms are large, bright, and spacious and include a sink. The shared, single-occupancy bathrooms and showers are just down the hall.
There's also a community kitchen that you can use.
Don't let the idea of shared bathrooms scare you away from this fantastic property. As you can see, they are private, stylish, and clean.
The suites at the Norblad have either a king or queen bed, a table and chairs, extra seating, and private in-room bathrooms, if you prefer.
The Norblad also has a sister property just down the street. The historic Astor Building is the tallest building in Astoria. The Norblad offers several apartment-style suites in that building, too, which are larger and are quite lovely.
This hotel is perfect in so many ways. It's historic yet modern and updated. It's classy and aesthetically pleasing. It's comfortable and is within easy walking distance from everything in town.
Parking for the Norblad is on the street, but you'll find street parking easy to find. The Norblad also allows and welcomes pets!
