We have a few weeks of winter left, but soon after the weather is going to be perfect for camping and outdoor recreation. There's a beautiful state park in northeastern Oklahoma that's located in the middle of a forest and its natural beauty will impress any nature enthusiast.
Osage Hills State Park is located in Osage County just west of Bartlesville in Pawhuska. The park is open year round but the campgrounds close for the winter. They are opening back up on March 1st, just in time for the lovely Spring weather.
The state park boasts more than 1,100 acres and is one of the original seven state parks started by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s.
The park has 23 tent sites, 20 RV sites, and several canvas wall tents. These are very popular right now, so make sure you make your reservation ASAP.
You'll also find several cabins available for overnight rentals. They offer one and two bedroom cabins for around $100 per night.
One of the more popular outdoor activities in the park is fishing. Visitors can cast a line at Lookout Lake or at Sand Creek.
When the weather gets warm enough, guests also love to swim and cool down in the refreshing water.
Hiking is also very popular, as the park has lots of rocky, hilly terrain with hiking trails throughout.

Another fun activity is kayaking and paddle boarding. They offer a self-service rental kiosk and it's so easy to use.
On top of all this, there are parks with playgrounds, tennis courts, a pool, ballpark, and more.
But one of the best things about this fun place is the epic scenery found from one end of the park to the other. It's a spectacular place to visit to enjoy the great outdoors.
