There's so much to love about summer in Northeast Ohio, but sometimes, a staycation isn't quite good enough. You may find yourself craving a quick getaway, and when those urges arise, nothing hits the spot quite like a good camping trip. Here in Northeast Ohio, one of the best quick getaways is camping in Amish Country. This rolling landscape comes with a laid-back pace of life, and the sunsets here are unbeatable. If you're ready for a good camping trip, pack up your Backcountry gear and get ready to take a trip down to the Amish Country campground in Berlin, Ohio.
Located about 90 minutes south of Cleveland, Berlin, Ohio, is one of the most beautiful spots in Amish Country.
Located in Holmes County, this quaint community of 1,447 people is home to a surprisingly vibrant tourism industry. As the oldest village in the county – dating back to 1816 – there's no shortage of history here. Surrounded by rural landscapes, you can truly kick back and relax. Interestingly, this town is also the birthplace of Nate Torrence, who you might know as Sully from Supernatural.
While many tourists swing through for bakery and to peruse small businesses, Berlin is also an excellent camping destination.
Berlin RV Park is part campground, part RV park, and all beautiful. For over a decade, campers have enjoyed roasting marshmallows while horse-drawn buggies trot down the nearby road.
While it's rural and quaint, this is anything but a primitive campground.
Free Wi-Fi, private showers, and a garden where you can pick your own fresh herbs will help you feel like you're on a real vacation. You can relax without stressing about where you're going to set up your nature shower!
Rates start at just $54 a night, and this fee includes water and electric.
This accommodates two adults and two vehicles per campsite. Children 12 and under are always free, but bonus guests and vehicles will incur an extra charge of $5.
If you're bringing out your RV, rates start at $60 per night.
This includes the sewer, electricity, and water fee. If you stay for four nights or more, special packages help drop that cost per night, so it's a great opportunity to get away for a while.
On the campground, you'll enjoy the volleyball, basketball, and tetherball courts, horseshoe area, picnic areas, and gorgeous views.
There's also a seasonal fruit market right across the street! Visitors rave about the sunrises and sunsets over the rural landscape here. It's simply stunning, and there's much to explore in the surrounding community.
Plus, the on-site hiking trails are an incredible feature for nature lovers.
Removed from the more dense part of Ohio, you'll be able to enjoy the sweet sound of birdsong and the peaceful rustling of the leaves when the wind blows. This gorgeous and intimate campground truly puts the "treat" in "retreat."
