For many people, camping - sleeping under the stars in a tent, roasting marshmallows over a campfire - is a way to get up-close to nature and "unplug" if only just for a night or two. Other people, however, enjoy their creature comforts but would still like the experience of going deep into the woods and away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. For this second group of people, glamping - a more upscale, luxurious form of camping where many of the conveniences of the 21st-century are still available - might be a good alternative. Read on to learn about one of the best glamping experiences in Upstate New York.
The A-Frame at Harvest Moon Acres, located south of the village of Stamford, New York in the Catskill Mountains, is three hours northwest of New York City.
The rental is located on six acres of land and can accommodate up to four guests a night in its two bedrooms. Of note are the beautiful wood flooring and walls throughout the building.
The rental’s living room includes several unique features such as a propane fireplace and record player. You can also find playing cards, a selection of board games, and a workspace with a desk and chair in this room.
The rental’s master bedroom - on the first floor - includes a king-sized bed while the property’s loft bedroom - accessible via a spiral staircase - features a queen-sized bed.
The beds in both of the bedrooms use the popular Casper brand of mattresses - a far cry from the sleeping bag or air mattress you might use if you were camping in a tent!
The shower in the A-frame’s single bathroom features a stone floor, fragrant hanging eucalyptus (which can help relieve stress and clear your sinuses), and a built-in seat. The owners of the rental also offer robes and slippers in the bathroom for guests’ use.
When you’re ready to head outdoors, make your way to the front deck where you’ll find a gas grill, multiple seating options, and a high-top table from which to enjoy drinks or the beautiful mountain views before you.
Along with the deck, there is also a picnic area on the property which features a picnic table, cornhole boards, and lawn darts. Why not challenge your fellow guests to a game or two?
Traditional camping may not be for everyone, but for those who want to experience nature more up-close than they may be able to at home, glamping is a great alternative. You are able to get away from all of the hustle and bustle of 21st-century life without giving up any of the conveniences to which you've grown accustomed. One of the best places to have such an experience is with The A-Frame at Harvest Moon Acres in Upstate New York.
The property goes for around $300 a night and is close to a gas station and a grocery store. For more information about the A-frame check out the property's Airbnb listing.
