New Orleans may be one of the most haunted cities in the country. The Creole cottage-style house was the home to General David Bradford, who purchased 600 acres to build the plantation, which was originally called "Laurel Grove."

There are 22 rooms in this two-story bed and breakfast.

Take notice of all the details as you walk through each room. From the intricate molding to the 300-pound chandelier, it’s truly an impressive space.

Restaurant 1796 features a menu covering everything from iron seared duck to shrimp and grits in a rustic yet elegant setting.

And of course, you’ll learn of the ghost stories that have been circulating for generations. The most famous is that of Chloe, a slave who lived on the property in the early 1800s. As the legend goes, Chloe was caught eavesdropping one day and had one of her ears cut off as punishment. In an act of revenge, she baked a poisonous cake to serve to the Woodruffs, the owners of the plantation at the time. The poison was meant for Mr. Woodruff, but her plan backfired and his wife and two daughters ate the cake and died from the poison. Chloe was hanged and thrown into the Mississippi River as punishment. Over the years, many have reported seeing her roam the property and during your visit, you might get the change to have a ghostly sighting for yourself.

Every room has it’s own unique atmosphere and history to it.

And they vary in paranormal activity. You might have a chance to see the famous Chloe or one of the other dozens of ghostly sightings guests have encountered.

For a more private setting, you can stay in one of their cozy cottages or the Caretaker’s Quarters.
