Kokopelli’s Cave was originally created as an office for well-known geologist Bruce Black.
Eventually, it was turned into a bed and breakfast.
To enter Kokopelli’s Cave, you must hike to the entrance.
You will want to pack light for this overnight stay and transport all of your belongings in a backpack or another easy-to-carry bag. The short hike is the only way to enter the cave. There are no elevators or other entrance options.
The cave is approximately 1,700 square feet.
Inside you will find a full kitchen, living room, bathroom, master bedroom, and dining area. If you’re going to explore caves in New Mexico, this is definitely a unique way to do it!
You will also find a replica of a Native American kiva inside Kokopelli’s Cave.
You can also spend some time relaxing in the waterfall shower...
...as well as in the jacuzzi tub.
If you easily become chilled, bring a sweater for your stay.
The average year-round temperature inside the cave stays between 68 degrees Fahrenheit and 73 degrees Fahrenheit.
While the inside of Kokopelli’s Cave is incredible and unique, plan to spend some time outside.
There are two porches that each provide awe-inspiring views of the La Plata River Valley. You may also see stunning views of the Four Corners area.
