When you think of fine dining you might think stainless steel kitchens and flashy decor. However, Pickity Place, one of New Hampshire's best restaurants, is hidden in an unassuming red cottage what you might not look at twice.
If this little red cottage looks familiar, it might be because it was used as the basis for illustrations of Little Red Riding Hood. However, now this cottage at the end of a winding dirt road is an amazing farm to table restaurant.
This is the type of restaurant where you might find the chef out in the orchard hand selecting apples for the fall menu. That attention to detail is what sets this restaurant apart.
And once you taste the food, you'll understand the Pickity Place difference. Pickity Place serves five-course, herbal focused meals each day at 11:30, 12:45 and 2. At just over $20 per diner, the restaurant is something that anyone can enjoy.
Since most of the ingredients are grown on the property, the restaurant offers a set menu based on what is in season. The menu changes monthly as the chef experiments with seasonal flavors.
Whether you are eating the local apple grilled pork chop (October) or root vegetable strudel (November) you will love the local tastes.
Of course, the best is saved for last, with desserts that will leave you begging for more.
The food not only tastes amazing, but it looks like a work of art.
Despite the intimate fine dining, Pickity Place isn't stuffy. Instead, you'll feel like you've gone to your grandmothers for a meal (a REALLY tasty meal).
If you're in the Mason area but don't have time for a meal, still stop by Pickity Place, where you can stroll the gardens and even shop for herbs and other New Hampshire goodies.
Whether you come for a meal, a stroll, or to shop, a visit to Pickity Place is an experience you won't forget.
