There's something magical about an escape to the woods. Whether it was childhood jaunts into the forest while imagining the companionship of imaginary creatures or simply enjoying the fresh air that comes with being outside in New Hampshire, we have fond memories of being young and surrounded by nature. While we sometimes miss those days, it's nice to know they can still be enjoyed right here. This treehouse is unique, beautiful, and might just satisfy your craving for an adventure.
Welcome to The Shire, nestled in lovely Conway.
Open year-round, this little hideaway is a wonderful escape from the every day. And while it feels truly rural, it's just 20 minutes away from everything you might need in North Conway.
The 9x12 tiny home sleeps 3 people comfortably with the option of adding a 4th depending on just how much room you'd like to have.
Upstairs is a sleeping loft with a queen-size bed and downstairs is a sitting area that can be used as another bedroom.
As long as you're okay with living in a more rustic way for a few days, this place has everything you might need. The kitchen has a triple burner Coleman stove, 6 gallons of water, cooking tools, and staples like olive oil and seasonings for preparing your own food.
There's also an outdoor kitchen that can be used throughout the year. In the warmer months, you'll probably want to eat out here too!
And you can enjoy the scenery from the screened-in porch.
The house comes with a composting toilet outhouse, which isn't as scary as you might think!
Just look at how lovely the inside it. You'll find sawdust for composting, a solar light, toilet paper, guest art, and even the Airbnb magazine for, ahem, longer trips to the loo.
Like being active? The property has plenty of marked trails. There are maps available to help guide you.
And Christie is a New Hampshire Justice of the Peace which makes this a great place for small weddings and elopements. They even have a tiny little chapel!
Most of all, we love the remote feel of this magical little home. Spend a night or two unplugging and enjoying the nature that surrounds you here in New Hampshire.
Tree House at the Shire can be booked through Airbnb. While it books up quickly, it's open year-round which means there's a good chance you can snag a few nights in the winter if you can't make it in the summer. The price for one night is about $114.
Being in the forest is great, but sometimes having a bird's-eye view is even better. Stay on top of a mountain at Top of the Ridge Farm for the best New Hampshire views!
