When people think of wineries near Kansas City, usually the first place that comes to mind is Pirtle Winery in Weston. And while Weston's historic downtown, brewery and winery are wonderful places to visit for a day trip, they oftentimes get packed by other day-trippers looking to do the same.
I first came across Albonée Country Inn and Vineyards by mere accident. After running along the Little Blue Trace trail in Independence, Missouri, I was looking for a fun place to eat or have a refreshing drink. That's when I came across Albonée. While I only stayed for the complimentary wine tasting, I noticed they had a beautiful bed and breakfast as well. My friend and I were the only patrons in the wine tasting room and we were helped by Judy, who was well-educated on all of the wines and how they were made.
Tucked away in the rolling hills of Independence, Albonée Country Inn sits on a sprawling, beautiful green property with its vineyards in front.
During the harvest, the Inn invites guests to pick grapes with them from the vineyard. Free wine and lunch for all who help!
Sit outside and enjoy the peace and serenity of the vineyard. You can bring your own cheese and lunch or purchase cheese from the wine tasting room.
At the bed & breakfast, choose from staying in a master suite with a private bathroom, or in a smaller room with a bathroom across the hall.
If you're looking to spend more time outdoors, head over to the beautiful Burr Oak Woods Conservation Area. Located just 7 miles aways in Blue Springs, this conservation boasts beautiful trails that are relatively easy to hike.
Albonée Country Inn and Vineyards is located at 2200 S Crenshaw Road in Independence, Missouri. You can reach them at 816 220-2820 or shoot them an email at [email protected]. Have a hidden gem in Missouri you like to visit to get away from it all? Let us know in the comments below!
