Each of us has our own level of comfort when it comes to camping. Some are seasoned campers, with a backpack of supplies slung over their shoulder, ready to pitch a tent for a primitive adventure. However, those of us who haven’t camped a lot often crave a more comfortable experience, perhaps even in a unique setting. That’s exactly what you’ll find when you check into this covered wagon in Missouri.
Tranquility and nature go hand-in-hand at Crystal Creek Ranch, in Eminence, which spans a lush 1,000 acres. You can also check into an authentic covered wagon.
While the ranch features just one covered wagon, it’s also home to log cabins, tents, and a ranch house.
The Sheepherder’s Wagon, however, promises a unique experience that you won’t really find anywhere else in Missouri. Originally built by a sheepherder, the enchanting wagon…
Comfortably sleeps two in its cozy bed. If there are other people in your party, they can pitch a tent in the space surrounding the covered wagon.
The covered wagon does have some amenities that you wouldn’t find in a covered wagon years ago – air conditioning, a refrigerator, and a coffee maker, for example. (You will have to walk to the nearest bathroom facilities.)
While you may want to spend time checking out the local area, carve out enough time to really explore the ranch grounds, too.
Set off on some or all of the six miles of hiking trails or the two miles of creek trails. Use one of the ranch’s paddle boats or canoes for a meander on the pond or the lake.
The ranch also features catch and release fishing, the opportunity to mingle with animals, and indoor and outdoor games.
Reservations must be made in advance, and a two night minimum is required, although you might just want to stay a whole lot longer after you check in.
