Open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday, from 10:30 am – 7 pm, the Council House Café is known for its hearty sandwiches, homemade soups, and crisp salads.
Of all the sandwiches on the menu, Big Ed's BLT is by far the most popular. The "famous" creation includes 10 pieces of crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and the eatery's signature spicy garlic mayonnaise.
The Broccoli Salad is another customer favorite. Perfect as a side or a meal, the "sweet and crunchy" salad is made by combining broccoli, pecans, bacon, and tomatoes and then topping it all with house dressing.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L. Catching the fall foliage in Mississippi is a tricky task. Our friends in the north will start seeing the colors turn in the next few weeks, but Mississippi tends to arrive fashionably late to the festivities. Mid-October to mid-November is the general ballpark, but one poorly-timed cold snap could change that! It’s a beauty when surrounded by various shades of yellow, orange, and red!
Woodall Mountain is also nearby, and this lovely little spot just so happens to be the highest natural point in Mississippi! Take a drive over and catch a tree-top view from your windshield--no hiking necessary!
